How students are placed with host families
The Barnes family has been supporting schools, host families and students since 1975. Our success is based upon having happy host families which leads to having happy students. Before we offer you a student we make sure this is right for you and your family with the support of our family business behind you.
The process of placing students into host families is as follows:
- Barnes gets to know students through the application process
- Barnes meets with families to discuss the programme and the support given
- Barnes leaves the families time to discuss within their family before deciding whether to proceed
- Interested families share their intention to host in April/May
- Students are matched to families in June and a profile is shared with families
- Host families accept their student based on this information
- By 30th June students are introduced to their host families giving two months for them to get to know each other via email, phone and Skype
- Barnes prepares all students for their study period in England
- In September Barnes meets students and ensures they are safely escorted to their host family
- You start to enjoy the relationship with your student
- Barnes’ local representative meets with the students a few days into their stay and continues to monitor their progress throughout their stay
- Barnes stays in contact with the students, the school and our host families so we are ready to help if required at any point
